How Monaco’s renowned high jeweler Alberto Repossi became passionate about trading precious stones.
Back in 1978, when Alberto Repossi opened his first boutique in Monaco, the third-generation designer of High Jewelry could never have imagined that two of the world’s most famous women would make him a star.
In 1997, popping into Repossi Monaco in Square Beaumarchais from their yacht after a holiday in Saint-Tropez, Dodi Al Fayed and Princess Diana chose an engagement ring from the “Tell me yes!” collection, which featured an emerald-cut diamond surrounded by four triangle-shaped diamonds. After a size modification, Dodi Al Fayed picked the ring up from Repossi’s Paris boutique in Place Vendome a few hours before their fatal car crash. When Prince Albert decided to marry Charlene Wittstock, the future Princess of Monaco, he proposed in 2010 with a pear-shaped diamond ring with smaller surrounding diamonds, designed by Alberto Repossi.
